Frequently asked questions

Everything about choosing a game, printing your kit, and pulling off a night people keep talking about. If it’s not here, we’re only a message away.

Planning your party

None at all. Every kit comes with a host guide that lays out the timing and walks you through each part of the night, which is why a lot of our hosts are running their very first mystery when they use us. If you like to read ahead, our first-timer’s guide covers the whole thing.

Most games play best with 8 to 20 people, and every product page lists its own recommended range. A lot of the kits also include optional characters, so you can add or drop a role or two to fit whoever actually shows up.

Since everything downloads instantly, you can buy it the morning of your party if you’re in a pinch. When you’ve got the time, a week’s head start is nice. It gives you room to print, sort the character packets, and send roles out early so people turn up already in character.

Most of our mysteries sit in PG to PG-13 territory, so they suit teens and adults. Nothing graphic, but there’s gossip, secrets, and a bit of scandal that lands better with an older crowd. For all-ages nights, filter to our Clean games. If you want a little more edge, the Adult collection is the place to look.

Definitely. The games are built for normal rooms, whether that’s a living room, a rental, or a break room. Guests spend the night up and mingling rather than stuck in assigned seats, so they bend to whatever space you’ve got. They’re a popular pick for office nights and team building too.

Just the printout and a way to print it. Everything the game needs is in the download. After that it’s up to you: some snacks, a themed playlist, and a bit of lighting go a long way. If you want the room to really look the part, we make matching Scene Sets with printable signs and banners.

Choosing a game

Three come up again and again. Trouble at the Tumbleweed Trailer Park is the one for big, rowdy groups. Buckin’ for Blood is a Western whodunit built for 13 to 18 players. And A Court in Chaos is the pick if your crowd leans fantasy. You’ll find the rest of the favorites on our bestsellers page.

Hundreds of hosts have run PartyKook parties, and the games hold a five-star average. Every product page shows its own ratings and reviews, so you can read what real hosts thought about the exact game you’re eyeing. A couple we hear a lot:

“I really appreciate how easy the set-up is for this game and how fun the characters are. Well done!”Kate, on A Court in Chaos
“This was great! So much fun and easy to follow. We really enjoyed it!”Taelyn, on Trouble at Tumbleweed Trailer Park

Start with the feeling you’re going for. You can browse by theme, by group size, by age, or by occasion, whichever gets you there fastest. Still torn? Tell us who’s coming and we’ll point you to the right one.

Please do. A good chunk of what we make started as a request from a host who wanted something specific. Send your idea over on the contact page and we’ll let you know if it’s already in the works or worth adding to the list.

Fairly regularly, plus seasonal kits around the holidays. The easiest way to catch a new release is to follow along on Instagram and Pinterest, or just check the shop now and then.

Downloads & printing

It’s an instant download. The moment your order goes through, your PDF files are ready to grab. Nothing ships and there’s no waiting on the mail. Download, print, and you’re set.

Your download stays available for 60 days after purchase. Save the files to your computer or phone as soon as you can, that way you’ve always got your own copy ready for party night.

They’re PDFs, and they look their best in Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is free over at get.adobe.com/reader. Opening them there makes sure your character packets, clues, and signage print exactly the way we laid them out.

Check your confirmation email first, spam and promotions folders included, since the link lives there. It’s also saved on your account’s order page. If it’s still not turning up, message us with your order number and we’ll get the files to you. Someone’s around every day of the week.

Two easy ways. Print at home on a regular printer, or send the PDFs to a copy shop like Staples or FedEx Office and let them handle it. Everything’s set on standard letter-size pages, so there’s nothing special to configure.

Nope. Color looks great and brings the theme out, but every game plays just fine in black and white. If you’re already at a copy shop, running the signs in color is a cheap way to add a little polish.

The download is yours to keep, so reprint it for your own parties as many times as you like while your download window is open. Just keep in mind the games are for personal use. There’s more on that under Orders & refunds.

During the party

Either works. The host guide is written so you can play a character and keep things moving at the same time. If you’d rather just steer the night from the sidelines, that’s completely fine, and the guide shows you how.

Not at all. Alongside the murder mysteries, we make lighter dinner-party mysteries with no crime involved. Same social chaos, nobody has to die.

Orders & refunds

Checkout takes all the major credit and debit cards, plus the usual secure payment options. It processes right away, so your download is ready the second you’re done.

Because these are digital files, all sales are final. We can’t offer refunds or exchanges once a game has been downloaded. If a file won’t open or something looks off, get in touch and we’ll help you sort it out. The full policy lives on our Refunds & Returns page.

PartyKook games are for personal use only. We don’t sell business, commercial, or paid-event licenses, and the kits can’t be resold or used to charge admission. For a low-key office night, our team-building mysteries work great as a personal-use option.

Getting in touch

The contact page is the quickest way to get a real person. We’re around seven days a week for whatever you need, downloads, picking a game, custom requests, all of it.

As quickly as we can, every day of the week. If it’s about a download or a party that’s coming up soon, drop in your order number and the date so we can jump on it in time.

Happily, it’s our favorite thing to do. Tell us your group size, the ages, and the kind of night you’re after, and we’ll match you with a game. You can also shop by group size or by theme if you’d rather browse on your own.

We’re a US-based party brand, built in New York. Every kit is written and designed in-house for hosts who want a great story without the stress that usually comes with it.
